Brazilian left-back Jefte has decided to join the Rangers.
Philippe Clement has been looking for a left back this season and appears to have found his man in the 20-year-old.
He is currently on loan in Cyprus with APOEL Nicosia, where he plays alongside former Gers flop Dalcio,
from Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense, with whom the Light Blues have agreed to a deal.
However, he now needs APOEL’s permission to leave their training camp and fly to Glasgow.
He would offer Clement a long-term option in the left back position.
Borna Barisic has been first choice for the past six years, having joined from Osijek.
However, the Croat’s contract expires in the summer and he is anticipated to leave.
Ridvan Yilmaz was slated to be the successor after
Gio van Bronckhorst paid £3.4 million (up to £5 million) to bring him in from Besiktas.
However, a lack of form and fitness has kept the Turk on the bench,
and Galatasaray is interested in bringing him back to the Super Lig.
That might happen once Jefte signs the dotted line.
He would be Clement’s third signing of the January window,
following Fabio Silva’s loan move from Wolves and Mohamed Diomande,
who penned a long-term deal after making the move from Nordsjaelland on Friday.
