Ertan Süzgün claims that Ridvan Yilmaz is unwilling to permanently leave Rangers and would like

to play in Turkey for the next four months.

The 22-year-old’s preference, according to a Sports Digitale journalist cited by the site

the season in his own nation in order to guarantee a spot at the European Championships in the summer,

with Galatasaray following him.

Both the Turkish Super Lig side and the Light Blues want to include a clause for the move to be made permanent

but the defender himself is apparently unmoved on the possibility.

Yilmaz has seen a run of good form while receiving frequent starts under Philippe Clement,

despite being linked to a move away during the January transfer window.

Not likely

If the full-back is ready to leave Ibrox this month, it wouldn’t make much sense for him to not seek a permanent move.

If he were to return after just a few months, Rangers would probably be starting over from scratch, as he appears to have finally made

the breakthrough they have been waiting a year and a half for since his arrival from Besiktas.

Even if he has a good chance of reaching the Turkey squad even if he continues his present play at Ibrox,

the lure of moving to one of

the major clubs in his native country to put himself in the clear to get into the squad is obvious.

However, it seems equally odd that both teams would consent to something else that doesn’t really appea

to suit either of them if they just want one thing.

Galatasaray is expected to fall short of Clement’s asking price, even if the club

has indicated that it would be glad to hold onto the

defender until the conclusion of the transfer window if no suitable offer is made (Sky Sports, January 17).

Therefore, even though nothing can be completely ruled out in the last few days of a January window,

it is seeming less and less probable that the Turk would depart Ibrox this month.
