Rangers transfer miss becomes 16-goal star wanted for big Serie A transfer

After Lazio made an approach for the Plymouth Argyle winger, Morgan Whittaker, it looks like Rangers really missed the boat.

The majority of Michael Beale’s admirers think that Rangers’ generous

support of him in the transfer window was misguided.

With Sam Lammers joining Utrecht, Beale has already lost one signing, and midfielder Jose Cifuentes’ growing desire could lead to another.

Although a lot of money was spent on Danilo and Cyriel Dessers, the verdict is yet out, and Beale’s purchases could cause Rangers to lag behind in the transfer market as they work to rebuild.

After the Rangers were unable to sign winger Morgan Whittaker in 2023, there is one deal that Beale

was hoping to get that now appears to be a major miss.

Rangers missed out on Morgan Whittaker, now Lazio want him

According to reports from January of last year, Rangers’ attempt to buy Whittaker from Swansea City had failed.

After being brought back from a loan at Plymouth Argyle, Whittaker was widely expected to sign with the Rangers.

Although the January transfer window closed, there were rumors that Rangers might return

with a fresh bid for Whittaker in the summer.

However, it was reported that Rangers had withdrawn their interest in Whittaker when the summer transfer market opened,

despite Beale’s enthusiasm.

Whittaker ultimately made the decision to join Plymouth Argyle permanently, and it turned out to be a brilliant move.

In 31 appearances this season, the 23-year-old has exploded for 16 goals and seven assists,

positioning himself as one of the Championship’s finest forwards.

Whittaker now appears to be well out of Rangers’ grasp when it was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Lazio, a Serie A team, had made

an unexpected move to capture the winger from Argyle.

Lazio also coveted Sunderland wide player Jack Clarke, suggesting that they are currently concentrating on the Championship market.

The team led by Maurizio Sarri is now pursuing Whittaker in an attempt to make a spectacular transfer before the deadline.

Whittaker’s spectacular transfer to Rome may be too much to resist, but the Pilgrims are still trying to keep him at Home Park.

Although the exact amount Lazio would be paying is unknown, it will undoubtedly be substantially more than what the Rangers were willing to offer a year ago.

Now that Rangers have wasted money on misfits under Beale, Whittaker will go down as a transfer miss,

and some will ask why he was the one who got in the net.
