Rangers reject bid from Premier League club for first-team star – report

Glasgow Rangers have rejected Nottingham Forest’s approach for goalkeeper Jack Butland,

stating that he is not for sale, according to STV News.

According to the news outlet’s website (30 January), the Premier League team has made a bid for the goalkeeper,

who joined on a free transfer last summer.

However, Rangers rejected the bid and issued a “hands off warning,” stating that they will not entertain any proposals for their number one before the transfer market ends on Thursday.

“Rangers have turned down an approach from Nottingham Forest for goalkeeper Jack Butland,

STV News understands, with the club issuing a hands off warning,” according to the report.

“It’s known Rangers will reject any proposals for Butland,

who spent the second half of  last season on loan at Manchester United.”

No way.

Unless they pay £30 million or more, Rangers should not consider selling Super Jack.

Butland is without a doubt Michael Beale’s biggest signing during his time,

and he has seamlessly transitioned into Allan McGregor’s gloves,

making him easily the top goalkeeper in the country at this juncture.

He has been an ever-present in the SPFL this season, winning man of the match in several games,

including the Europa League, and has played a significant role in the team’s success.

It would be nearly impossible to replace him at this point in a midseason transfer window,

but even in the summer, Rangers would struggle to find a goalkeeper as good as him for the money they typically spend on players.

If he is going to go, there must be enough time to replace him,

as well as enough money to hire a top-tier replacement. But in January? There’s no chance. He must stay.
