Rangers-linked striker offered lucrative alternative; Gers watched him at weekend – report

Hearts have offered Lawrence Shankland a new deal,

making the Rangers-linked striker the club’s highest-paid player in more than a decade.

In fact, the Jambos are so determined to keep the Scotland international, 28,

at the club that they have increased his pay from a previous offer earlier in the transfer season.

Contracted to Gorgie until the summer of 2025, Hearts want Lawrence Shankland to sign a new contract until 2027,

effectively putting a stop to talk over a move to Rangers.

This comes after Rangers scouts apparently saw the striker score another stunning goal in the weekend’s triumph against Aberdeen.

Rangers-linked Lawrence Shankland offered a contract.

Barry Anderson, a journalist who writes for the Edinburgh Evening News,

has reported on Lawrence Shankland’s newest contract offer.

While the source concedes that Hearts have yet to receive any formal transfer interest in Shankland this year,

it claims a “number of clubs” are keeping an eye on the Premiership striker.

Anderson believes Shankland has been given until Wednesday night to sign a new contract,

with Hearts only willing to negotiate an exit if a bid of “several” million pounds is made.

Rangers had been heavily linked with a move for Lawrence Shankland, a boyhood bluenose,

throughout his career, but a move to Ibrox has never materialised.

Hearts prepare for busy transfer window

Hearts are anticipated to be busy in the final days of the transfer season.

Three new players are likely to join the club,

with Steven Naismith hoping to secure third place in the Premiership table.

The club has already reached a pre-contract deal with Ross County playmaker Yan Dhanda,

which Hearts intend to complete in January.

Livingston full-back James Penrice is reportedly a target, and Charlton midfielder Scott Fraser has been mentioned.

Interestingly, none of these names are attackers,

as Rangers seek to strengthen their team and Hearts give Lawrence Shankland a new contract.
