‘Number One Priority’ – Ferguson shares ‘Desperate’ Rangers contract admission-report
Barry Ferguson reveals John Lundstram’s “desperate” admission as the Rangers’ new January “priority”
becomes clear.
According to Barry Ferguson, Philippe Clement will be “desperate” to keep John Lundstram at Ibrox,
making it the Rangers manager’s “number one priority” going forward.
The English midfielder’s present contract with Glasgow expires at the end of the current campaign, and
there hasn’t been much indication thus far that he plans to stay longer. Rangers is still unsure of where
he will play in the long run.
Ferguson thinks the Belgian will be making every effort to offer Lundstram a new contract, even if
Clement’s attention will probably be on the last few days of the transfer market. English teams are
probably circling for the 29-year-old.
During his appearance on The Go Radio Football Show on January 29, 19:00, he stated: “Your top
priority must be Lundstram.” Without a question, the management will be
desperate to get that over the line.
“Since taking over as manager, John Lundstram has performed exceptionally well in my opinion.
Excellent, therefore I’m sure there are some southern clubs that would be happy to sign him, thus I
believe the Rangers need to move swiftly to complete that deal.
Ferguson pointed out that Lundstram has been one of the Gers’ biggest stars since Clement moved to
Ibrox, performing admirably every week at the center of the Belgian midfield.
The 29-year-old has been in the starting lineup every week and appears to be improving, even though
players like Ryan Jack, Dujon Sterling, Nicolas Raskin, and Jose Cifuentes have all been in and out of
the team due to injuries or poor play.
At the end of the season, it would be devastating if the Gers lost the Englishman for nothing, especially
since they currently have a very good possibility of finalizing this transaction.
Lundstram’s future will hopefully be resolved as soon as possible. When the chaos of the January
transfer window subsides in the coming weeks, Clement will probably focus on the players who are
currently a part of his playing team.
In other Rangers news, the team is supposedly putting in a lot of effort to finalize a last-minute signing
of a new striker.
