David Edgar thrilled with Rangers transfer news as Ibrox bid update emerges in last 24 hours
Host of the Heart & Hand podcast David Edgar expressed his happiness that Rangers turned down a Premier League team’s desperate attempt to capture Jack Butland.
STV News reported on Tuesday night, January 30, that Nottingham Forest had made an offer for the Ibrox goalkeeper. Rangers,
however, insisted they would not consider any proposals before the deadline on Thursday.
Edgar also mentioned on his Heart & Hand podcast X account that, considering the Englishman’s “vital” importance to the team and
to Phillipe Clement, the Gers have made a wise decision in rejecting proposals for him.
He posted: “Good to hear we’ve rejected a bid from an English club (Forest by the sounds of it) for Jack Butland. He is vital to our chances of success this season.
“Pretty sure Rangers have made it clear they are not entertaining offers for Jack.A good old-fashioned ‘hands off’ warning!”
There is no way in the world that Rangers would consider selling the former Manchester United and Crystal Palace goalkeeper, unless they were to make an offer of at least £30 million.
This season, Butland has played flawlessly, and the Gers have sent a clear message to any prospective
suitors that the 30-year-old is Ibrox to stay.
Without a question, Butland is the greatest acquisition Michael Beale has made in his tenure. He is undoubtedly the best goalkeeper in
the Scottish Premiership and has easily filled Allan McGregor’s shoes.
The Englishman’s expertise has instantly elevated the Gers’ status under Clement. He is not only the first name on the Rangers roster,
but he also plays a vital role in the locker room and on the field.
He has been an ever-present in the SPFL this season and has been man of the match in countless games, including in the Europa
League and has been a huge part of the successes the team have had.
It would have been hard for Rangers to replace him if they had accepted the offer, therefore Light Blues supporters have every right to rejoice over this news.
Under Clement’s direction, the club is a different animal, as evidenced by this statement’s evolution at Ibrox. Wonderful.
