According to Frank McAvennie, Celtic losing the title this season would be WORSE than failing to win ten consecutive games.

The Hoops are in a Premiership title chase with Rangers, who are five points behind but have a game in hand,

and the penultimate Glasgow derby before the split is at Ibrox.

That’s despite establishing a comfortable lead early on as Gers were struggling under the now-fired Michael Beale.

However, Celtic suffered a wobble of their own, losing back-to-back games to Hearts and Kilmarnock,

allowing their improved rivals to reduce the gap under new manager Philippe Clement.

With only one January deal in the door thus far, McAvennie argues that fans would never forgive the board if dallying in the market cost them  the league.

He believes his former club has a significant financial advantage over the Ibrox players and should be flexing their muscles.

And failing to do so would be a worse failure than missing out on a record-breaking tenth title in a row.

The Hoops hero stated, “If no one else comes in, Brendan will lose his mind.

Surely they can’t be leaving their business so late to save money?

“It’s already clear that there’s too much dead wood in the present group and that,

in terms of quality, some of the starting XI are threadbare.

To make matters worse, they revealed in last year’s reports that they had £72 million in the bank.

“On top of that, there was Champions League money from this season,

so there’s a lot of money; why aren’t they spending it?

If Rangers can surpass them to win the title,

they will receive the money offered for participation in next season’s new-look Champions League,

wiping out Celtic’s financial edge over them.

“They don’t have Celtic’s money, but they go above and above for their managers.

They’re really going for the money; are Celtic taking their threat seriously? If Celtic lose this title,

it will be worse than failing to win it during the 10-year streak,

and the fans will never forgive the board for failing to provide Brendan with the tools he requires.”
