Morgan Rogers appears to be Aston Villa’s most likely arrival as the January transfer window draws to a close. Aston

Villa has already acquired Kosta Nedeljkovic from Red Star Belgrade through a buy-and-loan arrangement.

Villa is in new negotiations with Middlesbrough to sign the attacker following an increased offer, and they want to

finalize a deal by the beginning of this week. Encouraging Rogers to come is Unai Emery’s primary goal, as he wants

to keep Villa in the Premier League’s top four.

However, as Villa continues to show off their ambition and stretch their muscles in the transfer market, sports

director Monchi is reportedly in talks over yet another player.

Villa contacts regarding Goncalves

Sporting’s Pedro Goncalves is reportedly the subject of talks between Villa and the Portuguese tabloid O Jogo, via

SportsView. It seems that the club has long admired the Portuguese, and in the last few days of the window, they

have shown a renewed interest in him.

Although they are aware that a deal won’t be simple, Monchi and his recruitment team have been in communication

with the player’s entourage to determine contractual specifics. Goncalves has a £68 million release clause, and his

present terms expire in the summer of 2027.

It would be “brilliant” to sign Goncalves.

Goncalves was actually signed for two years by Villa’s Midlands rivals Wolves, but he played in just one game (the

EFL Cup as a substitute). 2019 would see him travel back to Portugal with Famalicao, and the following year he

would join Sporting.

Goncalves is mostly a central midfielder, but he can also play on either flank or as a number 10 and has put up some

mouthwatering stats during his time in Lisbon. In 158 games played thus far, he has contributed directly to 111 goals,

even though he frequently occupying a deep starting position.
