In the last days of the 2024 winter transfer window at Parkhead, Celtic is among the teams interested in acquiring

Sydney van Hooijdonk, a striker for Bologna. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano exclusively gives GIVEMESPORT the

“three or four possibilities” for the center-forward.

The hoops had a quiet winter transfer window, but before the market closes on February 1st, they might try to add to Brendan Rodgers’ roster.

The 2023–24 Scottish Premiership season is going great for the Bhoys. They are still in the later stages of the

Scottish Cup and are leading the fight for the league crown. Van Hooijdonk has finding it difficult to find

opportunities at Bologna this semester. For the duration of the season, he could look into the prospect of going on

loan to gain additional playing time.

Celtic’s relationship with van Hooijdonk in the quiet

During the 2024 winter transfer window, Celtic only added one player to the first team, but they may try to add more

players in the last days of the market. The Hoops announced on January 17th that they have signed five-and-a-half-

year contract Nicolas Kuhn, a winger with Rapid Vienna. Arriving to Parkhead for an alleged £3 million, the 24-year-

old gives Rodgers an additional attacking option as the Bhoys attempt to win the league for a record third time in a

row.

The Daily Record claims that Celtic want to recruit van Hooijdonk of Bologna this winter. De Telegraaf, via the same

publication, asserts that FC Twente has shown interest in the 23-year-old and has added him to their list of

candidates.

In Bologna’s Serie A match against AC Milan on January 27, Van Hooijdonk was not included in the squad; head

coach Thiago Motta stated that this was not because of a planned transfer. But the ex-Barcelona midfielder turned

manager acknowledged that the Dutchman might depart the team before the winter transfer window closes.

Van Hooijdonk has been coveted by Celtic since November 2023; he makes around £9,000 a week and appears to be

free to leave Bologna this month. But it’s unclear how hard Celtic will pursue a transfer in the next few days of the

transfer window.
