Senior Bowl Preview: Former Notre Dame Stars Are Set To Impress

The 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl will be broadcast on NFL Network and officially begin in Mobile, Alabama on Tuesday. Four former

standouts from Notre Dame will be present at that event: linebackers JD Bertrand, Marist Liufau,

Cam Hart, and quarterback Sam Hartman.

Every player will have an opportunity to make an impression on NFL scouts while on-site, and with any luck, their stock will grow

throughout the pre-draft phase. This week’s stakes for each player are shown below,

along with the opportunity and requirements they must meet.

Hartman had just one season at Notre Dame, and things didn’t go exactly as expected. The record-setting quarterback nevertheless

completed his career with 15,656 yards and 134 touchdowns through the air despite a few anomalies. Hartman could emerge as one of

the best senior signal callers in a shallow 2024 quarterback class. This week in Mobile, that possible ascent might begin.

This week, Hartman won’t go out there and dazzle NFL evaluators with his exceptional size, arm strength, and athleticism. It may be

said that out of all the quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl, he has the least impressive physical skill set. Against competitors like Joe

Milton (Tennessee), Spencer Rattler (South Carolina), Bo Nix (Oregon), Michael Penix (Washington),

and others, he will not prevail in an athletic beauty pageant.

On the field, Hartman needs to dazzle with his accuracy, timing, and mental toughness. As a signal caller who can project to be a

backup on the next level, Hartman needs to demonstrate his ability to learn and apply knowledge efficiently in the field. In the

background, he needs to conduct a strong interview and show that he is someone who may benefit a potential team.

The linebacker class is in dire need of both depth and elite players, much like the quarterback class. Bertrand has a big chance to

establish himself as one of the most in-demand depth players in this class, even though he won’t fit into the former. The three-time

Irish leading tackler has a great opportunity to demonstrate his advanced abilities in Mobile.

It is not a situation in which Bertrand would usually perform well. His strongest skills are quick information processing, helping

teammates set up before the snap, and constantly arriving at the correct location. These intangibles are more appropriate for team

meetings and white board sessions, but they will help you find a means to stick on the next level. It will be a little more difficult to

demonstrate those abilities on the field.
