Rangers to announce transfer by Tuesday PM, 48 hours spare for other business – report

Rangers are expected to announce the signing of Oscar Cortes by Tuesday 30 January amid a new January transfer update out of Ibrox, according to the Daily Sport.

The newspaper’s website reported on Monday (29 January) that the South American’s arrival will be disclosed by Tuesday evening,

giving Rangers time to focus on other late transfer activity before Thursday’s (1 February) deadline.

Rangers could sign a dream Sima alternative in the "next 24 hours"

Philippe Clement’s side is likely to use the extra time to work on both incomings and outgoings at Ibrox in preparation for the second half of the Scottish Premiership season.

It may have taken some time to get started,

but the January transfer window is proving to be a profitable one for Rangers as Clement begins to address the major flaws that have plagued his squad in the early months of the season.

Fabio Silva’s arrival has strengthened the frontline,

while Mohamed Diomande will provide a new dimension to the midfield.

Cortes will provide the Gers another wide option,

which the club is severely lacking at the moment.

Ross McCausland has impressed, and Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright are now fit and available,

but the 20-year-old will provide Clement with another alternative,

and his skill set should be ideal for the Belgian’s style of play.

Hopefully, his arrival will go ahead without a hitch and be announced on Tuesday as planned,

giving Rangers a couple of days to put the finishing touches on their team before the deadline closes on Thursday.

Cortes is unlikely to be the last player to visit or leave Glasgow this month.

In other Rangers news, Charlie Mulgrew proposed that one “magnificent” player.

Rangers have suffered a late transfer setback in their pursuit of ex-Motherwell attacker Kevin van Veen.

The Ibrox club is looking to acquire a striker in the last weeks of the transfer season to fill the vacuum left by Abdallah Sima,

who recently suffered a catastrophic injury in training while playing for Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations.
