Rangers now face a twofold transfer price demand after agreements for a new signing were agreed
upon- report
Rangers must pay a double transfer fee after reaching a £400,000 agreement. Jefte’s signature
According to the Daily Record, APOEL demands a payment akin to what Rangers have consented to
provide Fluminense in exchange for Jefte’s release from loan.
According to a report published on their website on January 28, the Light Blues have already
“hammered out terms” on a £400,000 contract with the Brazilian club to recruit their youthful left-
back, and they have also come to an agreement on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the player.
However, there are reports from sources in Cyprus that APOEL, the 20-year-old who is “hotly-rated”
and has been on loan this season while his parent club looks to attract transfer interest, wants that kind
of money as well in order to shorten his contract.
The only “stumbling block” that stands in the Brazilian’s way of joining Philippe Clement’s team at Ibrox
is the compensation amount.
Though they were prevented from signing Jefte permanently due to a FIFA transfer ban due to debts,
the Record reports that it should not be difficult to deal with the Cypriot club given they have already
pledged to support Jefte’s “ambitions to play at the highest level possible”.
Formalism?
There seems to be a significant distinction between APOEL being a significant barrier and demanding
that the transfer fee be increased, unless they are simply bluffing.
If Clement’s loan club throws a wrench in the plans and the left-back addition he has been chasing this
month doesn’t show up, it would be incredibly upsetting. Everything with Fluminense appears set to
proceed.
Even though it’s not what Jefte wants, APOEL is technically allowed to hang onto him if the contract
that brought him to Europe in the summer does not contain a break clause.
A promise to encourage his advancement would imply that they are willing to comply with the child’s
requests.
Although it seems certain that the full-back will sign with the Rangers before the deadline, things could
still become complex.
It has come to light that Clement has access to a sizable sum of money for strengthening during the
midseason window, but it is highly unlikely that the Light Blues board would rejoice if they were
required to pay twice as much for Jefte.
In other Rangers news, Auchenhowie is still home to a first-team player even though the team has
already accepted a bid for him to go.
