Rangers medical now due as transfer hijack threat dismissed – report
According to Pipe Sierra, an apparent danger to Rangers’ acquisition of Oscar Cortes from Sao Paulo
has been disregarded because the agreement has already been agreed upon with Lens.
The W Radio Colombia journalist stated via Twitter on 29 January that
the winger is likely to sign on an initial five-month loan with an option to buy,
with the Gers physical now pending to seal the transfer.
Any suggestions of a possible hijack from Brazilian side Sao Paulo have been dismissed,
with the Light Blues now appearing to be in charge of completing the trade.
Cortes would join Fabio Silva as an attacking addition in the January transfer window,
with Danilo and Abdallah Sima among the long-term injured forwards at Ibrox.
Any time
Since it originally broke, Colombian media have regarded this move as nearly done,
with Scottish newspapers first viewing it with caution.
However, unless a huge error is made, the 20-year-old former Millonarios attacker is highly expected to join the Rangers.
Although Cortes is young and has only made four first-team appearances since moving to France in the summer,
it appears that he is now poised for a five-month audition between now and June 30 to gain a permanent spot at Ibrox.
If he can have the same influence as the previous young Colombian who joined the club at the age of 20,
he has the potential to be a game changer.
Despite the fact that Alfredo Morelos’ Gers career withered before his free transfer exit in the summer,
he was a key component of the 55th league win.
El Bufalo’s figures may be an excessive expectation for Cortes,
but with the current SPFL title battle becoming increasingly competitive,
the correct acquisitions before the 1 February deadline might perhaps assist land 56 with only a fraction of that contribution.
