Rangers medical now due as transfer hijack threat dismissed – report

Oscar Cortes will have a Rangers medical when a January deal is agreed upon,

avoiding the chance of a hijacking.

According to Pipe Sierra, a potential danger to the Rangers’ pursuit of Oscar Cortes from Sao Paulo has

been ruled out because an agreement has already been reached with Lens.

The winger is expected to sign a five-month initial loan with a buyout option, according to a W Radio

Colombia journalist who tweeted on January 29. The Gers medical is still pending to finalize the deal.

Any hints of a potential hijack from Brazilian team Sao Paulo have been dismissed as unfounded, and it

appears that the Light Blues still have the trade to finish.

In the January transfer window, Cortes would join Fabio Silva as an attacking addition,

since the forward positions at Ibrox were plagued by long-term

injuries to players like Danilo and Abdallah Sima.

At any moment

Since it first surfaced, the Colombian media have characterized this move as all but inevitable, whereas

Scottish outlets initially viewed it with more caution.

However, barring a serious mistake, it is now generally believed that the 20-year-old former Millonarios

forward will sign with the Rangers.

Despite his youth and lack of first-team experience since moving to France in the summer (four first-

team games), Cortes appears to be scheduled for a five-month trial period that ends on June 30 in order

to gain a permanent position at Ibrox.

He might be a game-changer if he can have even half the influence of the previous young Colombian

who joined the club at the age of 20.

Even though Alfredo Morelos’ career with the Gers faded away before he left on a free transfer in the

summer, he played a significant role in the team’s 55th league victory.

Although El Bufalo’s stats may be too much to ask of Cortes, the current SPFL title battle is becoming

more and more competitive, so making the correct signings before the deadline of February 1st might

actually assist land 56 players with only a small portion of that contribution.
