‘It was great defending’ – Gogic left gutted as Souttar secures Rangers victory

In the Rangers victory, Alex Gogic talks about John Souttar’s “great block.”

Alex Gogic was in the right place at the right time when the ball broke. The next move appeared inevitable, as did maybe the outcome in the end.

John Souttar thought differently. The Rangers defender put his body on the line as Gogic tried to pull his laces from inside the area. Rangers eventually won all three points on Saturday thanks to a block.

Gogic was not the only opportunity that St Mirren passed up. On a day when a goal from Cyriel Dessers proved to be the deciding factor, manager Stephen Robinson was left to regret his luck and how his team ended up in the final third.

After all their work, the Buddies had nothing to show for it.
When asked about his chances five minutes from the end of a match played in challenging overhead and underfoot conditions, Gogic replied, “The pitch wasn’t the best.” As the ball bounced and wobbled, all I could do was watch to see where it would land.

“I thought it was going in when I tried to smash it. To be fair, though, the block was excellent. That was excellent defense on his part.

“I thought we played really well, but we’re disappointed because we’ve outperformed them so many times and still haven’t won. We receive a “well done,” but it is meaningless because we lose.

“I would rather lose and still win. However, we at least proved that we are fearless when playing against the elite teams.

It’s undoubtedly on the way, and I think it will arrive. The strikers put forth a lot of effort, but occasionally it doesn’t pay off. But I have a feeling that goals will pour in when the gates open.

Sometimes we simply haven’t had the necessary luck, and other times we might need to exercise more poise. All we need is for the ball to bounce at the ideal location and moment.

“We succeeded in taking the Rangers off balance.” However, we’re hoping to win. or a minimum of one point.
