As the transfer window closes, Celtic fans are eager to see Brendan Rodgers add new faces to the group.

Especially after viewing the team’s performance in their 1-0 victory over Ross County.

With Kyogo Furuhashi failing to score and appearing frustrated on Saturday,

Celtic have been advised that they should look to buy a player to help relieve the 29-year-old Japan international’s burden.

Bill Leckie, a journalist, was chatting about Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland and

admits to being shocked that Brendan Rodgers has not made a move for the Scotland international.

According to Leckie [The Sun], “the established notion is that if Lawrence Shankland quits Hearts,

he will join the Rangers.”But after another performance as stodgy as the ground they play on,

is anyone shocked Celtic hasn’t made a move? Because I definitely am.

“To me, Shankland is what Brendan Rodgers is short of — a frontman to take the burden off Kyogo,

someone to turn all their possession into wins way more convincing than the kind they got against Ross County on Saturday.”

Lawrence Shankland for Celtics?

Leckie isn’t the first to suggest the Hearts player could transfer to Celtic.

Shankland’s outstanding goalscoring record has piqued the interest of Glasgow rivals Rangers,

who, according to recent sources, have scouted the player four times this season.

The 28-year-old has scored 19 goals in all competitions and is the Scottish Premiership’s leading goalscorer with 14,

four ahead of Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and six ahead of Kyogo Furuhashi. [SPFL]

Shankland’s contract is slated to expire at the end of next season,

therefore the transfer money required to bring him to Celtic Park would not be excessive.

But would he be the signing that would satisfy Celtic fans?

There is no doubt that he possesses a goal-scoring instinct,

and with the number of opportunities Celtic provides, he may thrive under Brendan Rodgers.

With fewer than four days until the transfer market closes,

Celtic fans will be eager to see who Rodgers brings in to help with the title push.
