Brendan Rodgers must evaluate a variety of factors during Celtic’s January transfer window.

How does he retain his finest players? Can he locate an appropriate replacement for the ailing Greg Taylor?

And can he get those players out who aren’t contributing or have no long-term prospects at the club?

I believe it is one of the primary reasons he is Celtic’s highest-paid manager in history.

But, for me, the most important thing Rodgers needs to address is the lack of service to Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japan international cut a lonely figure in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Ross County,

as the Hoops widemen either failed to see his runs or were precise enough in their passing to  find him.

However, one player in the SPFL is surpassing all of Celtic’s wingers in terms of chances created,

which could help Kyogo regain his scoring touch.

Celtic could look at Kilmarnock’s winger Danny Armstrong.

Before you start yelling at me and telling me he isn’t good enough,

Armstrong has been one of the best-performing wingers in the SPFL this season by far.

He would provide much-needed competition for Luis Palma and Liel Abada,

and he has shown that he can score goals in a Kilmarnock team that is presently fourth in the league.

Armstrong leads the chances created table with 68 so far this season.

That is nine more than Luis Palma, and fourteen more than Matt O’Riley.

Armstrong has the most huge opportunities, with 17. Again, six more than Palma, and eleven more than O’Riley.

In terms of assists, the 26-year-old is only one behind Celtic’s Honduran winger, who has seven, and ahead of O’Riley, who has six.

Surprisingly, Armstrong’s expected assists are once again at the top of the SPFL tree,

with an average of 6.8, and when you look at Kyogo’s expected goals (11) – which are higher than the league’s top scorer,

Lawrence Shankland – you can see how the Killie winger could help the Japanese striker regain his scoring touch.

And don’t forget that he has already helped Kilmarnock defeat Celtic twice this season.

Indeed, whether Armstrong could do it in Europe is another question entirely,

but in terms of winning the title, surely taking a chance on the Scottish winger (who would not break the bank) with a £60 million Champions League prize on the line is worthwhile?
