Celtic issued UEFA fine for ‘invasion of the field’ as Aberdeen learn the cost of Helsinki snowballs
The Celtic and Aberdeen have both received fines for incidents that occurred during their Champions League and UEFA Conference League matches at the end of last year.
On Matchday six, the Premiership champions welcomed the Eredivisie side to Glasgow for what was virtually a dead rubber match. Celtic were already eliminated, and Feyenoord’s spot in the Europa League’s next round was confirmed, although both clubs received fines for incidents during the game. The Dutch side charges €16,500 (£14k) for “throwing of objects.”
Celtic have been charged with an event deemed a “invasion of the field of play” by UEFA in their most recent round of disciplinary hearing findings. That will cost €5,000 (£4.2K). Aberdeen, meanwhile, flew to Finland for their meeting with Helsinki and received a €2,000 (£1.7k) punishment for “throwing of objects.” The game was momentarily halted when traveling fans began throwing snowballs toward the Helsinki goal mouth. Meanwhile, HJK has issued a warning over “late ambulance arrival” and “object throwing”.
