Rangers and Celtic’s Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts are likely to be among

the more active teams in the final days of the transfer season.

The Edinburgh club currently sits third in the table, making them the best performing team outside of the Old Firm,

with a 10-point lead over fourth-placed Kilmarnock and an amazing 16 points ahead of close city rivals Hibs in sixth.

Hearts are on track to qualify for Europe this season and will look to maintain

their outstanding form under manager Steven Naismith in the second half of the season.

Increasing the squad depth is critical to the Jam Tarts’ chances of success,

and supporters may be treated to a double signing before deadline day.

According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Yan Dhanda has agreed a pre-contract with Hearts from Ross County

and has a possibility of joining the Tynecastle club before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The 25-year-old offensive midfielder successfully negotiated terms on a long-term deal that will begin in

the summer, following the expiration of his contract at County.

With the contract officially in place, it is expected that Hearts will attempt to bring the player to the Scottish capital

this month so that he can begin working with his new teammates as soon as possible.

According to the Edinburgh Evening News,

Ross County’s reluctance to part with a player during a relegation battle could be a stumbling block in this transfer.

Furthermore, Hearts would not want to spend too much for a player

they had already committed to sign permanently on a free transfer in the summer.

Nasmith’s late-winter business does not finish there,

as reports from the Edinburgh Evening News confirm that Livingston defender James Penrice might be on

his way to Tynecastle in a similar move when his contract expires.

The publication understands that Hearts are looking for a left-sided full-back who can also play wing-back,

and Penrice is a top target.

Penrice is considered one of Livingston’s finest  players,

but it is suspected that he is unlikely to remain with the club if they suffer relegation to the Championship.
