Ally McCoist uses Rangers transfer masterstroke to derail EPL signing debate as Ibrox star handed ultimate crown
McCoist has been blown away by Butland and handed him the most prestigious honour he could during a Premier League-focused sitdown.
Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has been named Ally McCoist’s signing of the season,
beating out some of the best and brightest in the English Premier League.
Butland has been a revelation since joining from Crystal Palace in the summer,
taking over from Allan McGregor as the uncontested Ibrox No.1. His play has been so excellent that he is hoping to be called up to the England squad for Euro 2024, and McCoist has made no secret of his appreciation for the goalkeeper.
McCoist foolishly demanded an EIGHT-YEAR contract for the goalkeeper in December, and it appears he hasn’t changed his mind since.
The Gers great presented ‘Ally’s Awards’ on talkSPORT Bet, with the awards plainly intended to focus on the English Premier League.
When asked to name his season’s signing, the presenter considered several alternatives,
including West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai. On Kudus,
he said, “You know what? That’s exactly what I was thinking.” He has been amazing coming in from the right with his left foot.
“He’s been magnificent.”But no one informed McCoist he couldn’t get into Scotland, and he took advantage of that uncertainty.
He continued: “What other options do I actually have? Jack Butland! I’m bringing Jack Butland into the mix,” to the interviewer’s hysterics,
who laughed and replied: “I know you’ve been a fan of him! I know you like his work and what he’s been doing (at the Rangers).
