Philippe Clement praised the contribution of Scott Wright despite hooking the Rangers winger at half-time in the victory over St Mirren

The 26-year-old forward made his second start under the Belgian manager in Paisley,

and his first appearance in the starting lineup since November’s 5-0 victory over Dundee.

The Rangers manager has previously stated that he will use his squad throughout the season,

and this was a rare occasion for the former Aberdeen player to shine.

However, given that Scott Wright and Todd Cantwell were removed at half-time for Ross McCausland and Tom Lawrence,

respectively, Ibrox fans will be forgiven for believing he missed the opportunity.

Rangers manager Clement stated after the eventual 1-0 victory that the substitutions were done with success in mind on a difficult ground in Paisley.

Also complimenting Scott Wright and Todd Cantwell’s contributions after the game,

the decisions appeared to be completely tactical rather than personal.”No, it’s different things,

” Clement responded when asked if the substitutions were based on either player’s fitness.

“It’s a bit tactical, but it’s also to bring in some freshness.

So it’s a touch of both, but it’s not about who starts or who finishes the game; it’s about winning together.

“And the two players who came off at that point played a vital role in the first half.

“So this is a team performance. It’s a team that we’re building,

and you can see it more and more; whoever is playing,

everyone is contributing to the team, everyone is celebrating and fighting together.

“That’s what I want to see until the end of the season.””It’s a bit tactical,
