Rangers could possibly make a signing on transfer deadline day, given Philippe Clement‘s recent statements about new deals.

Following the 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday, January 27, the Belgian stated that Gers will be busy until the transfer deadline.

This could indicate that efforts to bring in additional players are intensifying after the signings of Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande.

Clement went on to say: “We will be busy until the last seconds’ of transfer window.”

There have been suggestions linking the club with a move for Brazilian left-back Jefte,

which might take some time and potentially stretch on until deadline day.

It is understood that there are obstacles in the search to sign the 20-year-old and with Rangers,

it’s always a time-consuming process.

There are also ongoing talks to sign Lawrence Shankland,

and finding a new attacking player is a priority despite Silva’s arrival.

Danilo, Abdallah Sima, and Kemar Roofe have all been sidelined with long-term injuries,

while Sam Lammers has left and Cyriel Dessers has yet to demonstrate his ability to score goals consistently.

Hopefully, the club has a shortlist set and conversations are underway with multiple choices,

as they cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket with Shankland.

It’s encouraging to see the club’s willingness to work until the last minute, but this shouldn’t always be the case.
