Mohamed Diomande, a £4.3 million deal from Nordsjaelland, became Rangers’ second January acquisition on Friday.

Rangers now appear poised to pick up speed in the upcoming days, having already signed Fabio Silva earlier in the month.

Brazilian left back Jefte has emerged as a top contender, and Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland is still being linked.

Oscar Cortes, a winger for Lens, is reportedly close to signing a contract with Rangers, so he could be a surprise target presently.

On social media, Colombian reporter Julian Capera now asserts that Rangers and Lens have reached a deal for Cortes’ signing.

Cortes is currently traveling to Glasgow to complete the move, which is expected to involve him joining Rangers on loan for the remainder of the season with the option to buy.

After making 28 first-team appearances for Millonarios in his home Colombia, Cortes emerged with seven goals and five assists.

The 20-year-old struggled to make an impression in France after joining Lens for about €4.5 million (£3.8 million) over the summer.

Cortes has only made four appearances for the Lens first team, but during that time he has one assist and one goal.

Cortes is a right flanker by preference, but he has also played left, as a number 10, in the middle of the midfield, and even up front.

If a deal works out, this is another intriguing addition for Rangers, and there’s been a strong hint that things are moving forward.

Cortes has been pulled from his international duty with the Colombian Under-23 team in order to return to France, the Colombian FA confirmed today.

Cortes was scheduled to play Venezuela in Monday’s CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, but the idea of completing a transfer has

since ruled him out. Cortes is rumored to be heading to Rangers, and this appears to be another acquisition with a lot of future

potential.
