£24.7m Fabrizio Romano transfer update will have Rangers nervous amid last-gasp exit

Rangers could find themselves in a nervous position in the final days of the transfer window after Fabrizio Romano dropped a major £24.7m bombshell.

The trustworthy journalist, in a post on his personal Twitter account on January 26,

states that Bayern Munich and Galatasaray have reached an agreement to finalize the transfer of full-back Sacha Boey,

with a medical set for this Saturday afternoon.

The agreement between the teams,

according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, is valued between €28 and €29 million (£23.9 and £24.7 million).

Even though that transaction by itself has nothing to do with the Ibrox team,

it may finally end the standoff that has been between the Turkish powerhouses and Rangers over left-back Ridvan Yilmaz over the entire month.

Yilmaz has spent a large portion of the transfer window being connected to a move to Serie A or Turkey,

but he has impressed despite the rumors.

On Saturday afternoon,

he even began the match against St Mirren following his goal in the midweek victory over Hibernian.

The primary problem has apparently been Rangers’ desire to obtain a transfer price for the 22-year-old,

whether it be in exchange for an obligation to buy if he were to leave on loan or for a permanent transfer immediately.

Galatasaray refused to comply.

But with the Istanbul club finding themselves with a big chunk of money to spend at the end of the transfer window and a limited time to get the deal done before the deadline,

there’s nothing to stop them now paying up.

Rangers have been planning to replace Yilmaz all month but no deal has materialised

and his good form has seen him become first-choice under Philippe Clement,

despite Borna Barisic being fit again.

Any plans for the second half of the season would be severely disrupted if he were to go at this point in the window,

and the Rangers will all be anxiously awaiting Galatasaray’s decision.
