Player to jet into Glasgow before transfer deadline as Rangers agree ‘Exciting’ deal – report
Mohamed Diomande, the new Rangers signing,
is scheduled to arrive in Glasgow by the middle of next week, says Charlie Gordon.
The Daily Express journalist posted on his X account (27 January) that the 22-year-old’s arrival to Ibrox is still
“slightly delayed” since he is still waiting for a work permit.
According to Rangers’ official X account (26 January), the club has signed Diomande on loan from FC Nordsjaelland
until the end of the season, with the option to make the move permanent in the summer for an unknown cost.
The 22-year-old, who is well regarded in Denmark,
is still held up and will arrive in Glasgow once his work permit application is approved.
Gordon wrote: “Mohamed Diomande is highly rated in Denmark – an exciting move for Rangers.”
“I understand he’s expected in Glasgow by the middle of next week ,
22yo’s arrival is slightly delayed as he’s still awaiting a work permit.”
Top addition
Rangers have recently completed a big transfer coup, acquiring exactly
the type of player Philippe Clement requires to strengthen his midfield ranks at Ibrox.
Diomande has long been one of Denmark’s most valuable midfield assets,
and it’s surprising that none of Europe’s most prestigious clubs have made a bid for him.
Rangers have a great exciting talent in Diomande, who is only 22 years old and has played 13 games for
Nordsjaelland this season, recording three assists.
A midfielder has always been high on the list of needs at Ibrox this January due to the challenges they have faced
with squad depth and injuries to key players, often leading to
Dujon Sterling filling in outside of his usual right-back position.
Diomande arrives at Ibrox with burgeoning promise and the potential to be an instant hit and fan-favourite amongst
the Rangers supporters possessing tremendous technical ability,
vision and a workhorse-like mentality that the Gers have needed for a long while now.
However, due to his work visa status, the Gers will have to wait a little longer to see him formally at Ibrox,
but given Brexit and EU constraints, this should be a formality.
Rangers are still looking for a new left-back and striker, but Diomande’s signing should thrill
the Light Blues fans as they try to maintain their upward trajectory under Clement’s direction.
Terrific deal. Excellent signing.
