Most clubs are still expecting to conduct business this month,

with Hibs hoping to get a player in before the match against Kilmarnock.

Hibs chase the Cherries duo.

Hibs have been connected with two Bournemouth players as manager Nick Montgomery looks to enhance his team.

Welsh defender Owen Bevan, 20, and midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh, 21,

are said to be transfer targets for the Hibees,

who are short in defence and need a replacement for midfielder Jimmy Jeggo, who is returning to Australia.

Montgomery intimated in his pre-match news conference before of Saturday’s encounter

against Kilmarnock that he could bring in a player before kickoff.

Bevan is on loan at Cheltenham Town this season, and Moriah-Welsh is a Guyana international.

Bournemouth – are owned by potential Hibs investor Bill Foley,

have already loaned playmaker Emiliano Marcondes to the Easter Road outfit in this window.

Celtic defender on the way out

Celtic centre-half Yuki Kobayashi is anticipated to depart Glasgow during this window,

and two teams from the United States have emerged as potential suitors.

Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas are reportedly interested in loaning the Japanese defender.

Kobayashi has not been a member of Celtic’s first-team squad

since Brendan Rodgers took over and has been told he is free to go before the end of January.

Abada’s hands-off warning

Celtic attacker Liel Abada is being tracked by a number of clubs,

but manager Brendan Rodgers would not consider any proposals for the Israeli during this window.

“I know there have been stories made for whatever reason around him,

most likely trying to second guess what has been going on with Liel,” said Rodgers.

“It’s very, very simple. Liel was out injured for a long period of time,

he has gone back in, and again he is a player I am excited to work with, that I can improve.” Full story here.

Rangers set for further signings.

Rangers announced Mohamed Diomande’s arrival yesterday,

and the Ivorian is unlikely to be the club’s final acquisition of the summer.

Manager Philippe Clement has stated that the team is constantly looking for new players,

and the next arrival might be Brazilian left-back Jefle, who now plays for APOEL in Cyprus.

The 20-year-old is presently on loan from Fluminense,

and various sources indicate that a deal has been agreed to terminate the loan, allowing him to transfer to Ibrox.

Dundee signs Mellon

Dundee has signed Scotland Under-21 international striker Michael Mellon,

the son of former Dundee United boss Micky Mellon.

Mellon is the third Burnley loan signing to arrive at Dens Park this month,

after the teams’ new formal partnership. Derek Adams recruited the 20-year-old on loan,

and he scored 15 goals for Morecambe during the first half of the season.

“He is a player of such high calibre and one that we’ve been tracking for a long time,

” Dundee boss Docherty said. “We are indebted to Burnley Football Club and

our partnership with them for helping us bring Michael in when he had so many suitors.”

Smith prepares to’settle down’ at St Johnstone

Smith, who joined St Johnstone from Hearts, hopes to establish himself there.

The 21-year-old has signed a contract with Saints until the end of next season,

after spending the first part of the season on loan at Scunthorpe.

The Scotland Under-21 international has previously had loan spells with Cowdenbeath,

Arbroath, Cove Rangers, Queen’s Park, and Hamilton Accies, as well as 19 appearances for Hearts.

With nearly 100 first-team appearances under his belt, Smith told St Johnstone’s website:

“The loan moves have all proved really useful in my development,

but I need to settle down now and concentrate on one club.”
