Galatasaray submits new official bid for Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz as £2.5m transfer news emerges from Turkey

Galatasaray have tabled a new official offer for Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz worth £2.5m plus bonuses, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

The reliable Turkish journalist writes on his personal Twitter account (27 January) that the Istanbul club has returned with a new offer for the Turkey international as they attempt to close the deal before the deadline.

Rangers are thought to want to reclaim the £4 million they paid for Ridvan before letting him leave,

and have already lined up a successor, with Jefte scheduled for a physical this weekend.

“Galatasaray made a new official offer with a purchase option for Ridvan Yılmaz,” he stated in the letter.

“Purchase option: 3 million euros (£2.5 million) plus bonuses. Rangers vs. St. Mirren – will respond to the offer after the match.

“Galatasaray is reportedly pursuing a deal for Rangers’ left-back Ridvan. The team has been struggling with injuries and Borna Barisic’s decline in performance.

However, the 22-year-old has significantly improved his form in recent months and even started against St Mirren,

putting in a superb performance to solidify his position as the first-choice left-back.

Despite this, it’s evident that the club is willing to let him leave this month, and Galatasaray is now pressing to do so before the February 1st deadline.

This could be a mistake because Barisic is out of contract in the summer and on the decline,

whilst Yilmaz is on the rise, but we have to trust the manager’s eye, and if this is what he wants, the team must just believe that the board can negotiate a good deal.

In other Rangers news, medical in the next 36 hours.

There is no mention of a fee, but it is likely to be reasonably inexpensive given the leagues he is presently playing in,

and with the squad performing well, he should find it easier to settle in than other previous additions.
