Flop Celtic defender Yuki Kobayashi could leave before the January transfer deadline,

with two MLS clubs allegedly interested in a loan move.

The 23-year-old centre back has not played a single competitive minute for the Scottish champions this season and

has dropped totally out of Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans, despite other players’ repeated injuries.

According to the Scottish Sun, MLS clubs FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake are both interested in bringing the Japanese player on loan.

According to the report, the Hoops are ‘open’ to allowing the player to depart Parkhead this month.

Kobayashi signed a five-year contract with Celtic after joining from J-League club Vissel Kobe in January 2023,

under former manager Ange Postecoglou.

He only made five appearances last season and has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.

A possible return to the homeland had been discussed earlier in the window.

Yokohama F. Marinos were linked, but it appears he may now be moving to the United States,

with Celtic willing to trade a number of marginal players, including third-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist,

forgotten midfielder James McCarthy, and centre-back Gustaf Lagerbielke.

One permanent departure has already been revealed this month, with Yosuke Ideguchi moving to Vissel Kobe.
