Leading the defense and ranking seventh in the NFL with 155 tackles in his rookie season with the Bears, Edwards set career highs with 2.5 sacks, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, eight tackles-for-loss, and one forced fumble while starting all 17 games.

Patra stated that Edwards was the unsung hero of the Bears, saying, “Boasting both the ability to tackle in space and excellent coverage skills, Edwards was the glue in the middle of Chicago’s defense.”

Valentine stated that Edwards was outstanding all around, finishing with an 80.2 overall PFF grade, the 10th-highest of all linebackers, as well as top-20 PFF grades in run defense and coverage. Edwards was named the Bears’ hidden superstar. With the arrival of Montez Sweat, the Bears defense got going, but Edwards has quietly contributed to their success.”
