Rangers: Philippe Clement, who is linked to an exit, is given a possible transfer boost.
After Ridvan Yilmaz, who is linked to leaving, made an admission to Rangers, Philippe Clement might have received a significant
boost in his transfer.
The Turkey international said on Twitter that the Gers’ 3-0 victory over Hibernian on Wednesday, January 24, was a “perfect team
performance” at Easter Road.
The 22-year-old added that he is “so proud” and that it “feels so good” to play for the Light Blues despite
previously looking likely to leave Ibrox in the January transfer window.
The left-back’s future has been under increasing scrutiny this month as a number of teams are rumored
to have been planning moves to recruit him.
Following Ajans 1905 journalist Kadir Cetincali’s article on Wednesday stating that the Turkish club had reached an agreement with
Yilmaz and there has been “no problem” in that regard since last week, it seemed as though Galatasaray was dominating the race.
However, he went on to say that the Gers haven’t “stepped back” from their demands for payment
in cash so he can move out of Ibrox this month.
It’s challenging to separate the truth from the fiction regarding the defender because there have been
so many conflicting reports released.
The fact that he is still with the team and that things will stay that way until Rangers receive an offer that they think is reasonable
enough to allow him to leave is, however, what matters most to them.
Based on Yilmaz’s most recent social media post, it appears that he is eager to carry on representing
the team despite the continuous rumors.
Given that the Turk has established himself as a reliable starter over the last several weeks, Clement may find that to be of great relief.
He’s arguably playing the greatest football of his Gers career since signing from Besiktas in 2022 after helping his team to a decisive
three-point victory over Hibernian.
Should he choose to stay at Ibrox, the Light Blues manager won’t need to scout the transfer
market for a last-minute replacement before the window closes.
Borna Barisic will be hoping for some consistency at left-back because his contract is slated
to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Though it will be intriguing to watch how things play out over the next few days,
Yilmaz’s immediate future appears to be in Glasgow, at least for the time being.
