Kris Boyd in brutal ‘he should know’ Neil Lennon Celtic vs Rangers title dig

Boyd has attacked Neil Lennon for his unshakable belief that Celtic will win the title battle.

The former Rangers great feels Lenny would be well aware of a club lacking the mindset to win the league,

given that it is only a few years since his Hoops side failed to win ten consecutive titles.

Philippe Clement has already stated openly that Lennon’s contemptuous attitude

toward his team has motivated them.

And Boyd believes his old club has what it takes to challenge the champions right to the end.

“I suppose he should know—it was only a few years ago his Celtic side bottled ten-in-a-row.”

“They should have avoided Steven Gerrard’s team that season. However, when the going got tough, they blew it.

“But the Rangers are currently in the title chase.

“Okay, they’ve failed in some key games this season, and they deserve to be criticized for it.

There was a reason why Michael Beale was fired.

“But this Rangers squad has given itself a chance to win the title under Philippe Clement thanks to their tenacity

and drive to claw their way back into contention.

“Obviously, Lenny is entitled to his opinion. However, given how the Rangers have responded since Clement’s hiring,

I find it far too easy to doubt their mentality.

“No, the Rangers are not going anywhere in this championship competition.

Those remarks may come back to bite me on the buttocks,

and it will take some chuck to get into my sizable derriere. But I see real improvement under Clement.

“If you had looked at the league table a few months ago, some people might have thought it was already over.

But the league isn’t over.

“The next few days could be crucial for both clubs in terms of who joins and goes.

“But I find it amusing that Celtic have put a Not For Sale sign on Matt O’Riley.

“That says volumes. If Celtic were as confident as Lenny about winning the title,

surely they would take the £20 million on the table.

“In the past, they would have grabbed the money without a second’s thought.”
