Dallas Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson named team’s ‘unsung hero’ of 2023 season

Many of us have discussed the exceptional output that the Dallas Cowboys saw in 2023 from a select group of players, most notably

Though head coach/playcaller Mike McCarthy is rarely spoken in a positive light these days, it is indisputable that in his first season in

charge, he raised the bar for offensive output. Although Jake Ferguson, a tight end, had perhaps the best season after Prescott and

Lamb, there were numerous more players that contributed during the season in addition to Prescott and Lamb,

who had their career years.

Ferguson reached career highs everywhere, which is hardly noteworthy considering that 2023 was only his second NFL season.

Nevertheless, he more than made up for Dalton Schultz’s absence and developed into a reliable

middle-of-the-field weapon that Prescott successfully used.

There is a lot of reflection going on in the NFL and media world now that all but four teams have concluded their seasons, and

NFL.com did so in a particular way this week.

They made the decision to select, well, a “unsung hero” for each side. We are discussing athletes who, although they may not have been

expected to, made major contributions to their teams. Before the 2023 season, Ferguson had his supporters in the BTB camp, but it’s

safe to say that not even the most hopeful person could have predicted what transpired.

In case it is not clear, he was the Cowboys’ choice.
