Cowboys To Hire Belichick, Fire McCarthy – in 2025!?
Cowboys To Hire Belichick, Fire McCarthy – in 2025!?
When are we going to let it go?
Bill Belichick, for reasons that do not surprise me, is still unemployed.
Since departing the New England Patriots, the six-time Super Bowl champion has only interviewed for Atlanta.
Instead, the Falcons hired Raheem Morris.
Suddenly, the game of “Musical Chairs” isn’t leaving many seats for Belichick,
who was supposed to be “coveted” and the subject of a “bidding war,”
according to his national media pals…. complete with irresponsible
“reporting” that had him hired by the Dallas Cowboys to replace Mike McCarthy.
But Belichick was not hired here. McCarthy was not fired here.
The Cowboys as his “mystery team” were complete nonsense.
So we’re raising the bar… to the point where we’re projecting McCarthy/Belichick for… February 2025!?
“What if the Dallas Cowboys can’t get it done with Mike McCarthy?
“There is Bill Belichick looming,” my friend Ian Rapoport noted this week,
following the melancholy image of this iconic septuagenarian coach trudging
along unhappily in the NFL unemployment line in a ragged sweatshirt, beggar’s tin cup in hand.
I have nothing. But respect Rap, and he is not “wrong.”
It’s “possible” in the same way that he could one day coach one of the 32 NFL teams.
And I admire his admittance of the stupid nature of it all.
Rap stated: “The amount of TV time we are going to fill with
‘Will Belichick eventually take over for X – ‘Insert Name of Coach’ – is going to be epic – and I’m here for it all!”
I admire Rap’s zeal and fire here. However, I believe that this is extremely premature guessing.
A 12-month estimate of who will be NFL coaches in 2025?!
Me? I’m missing excitement and energy for it. In fact, I’m already tired of it;
we have a “Coaching Carousel” that is fueled up a year in advance?
So, other than “filling TV time,” is there a better option for Belichick’s hiring by Jerry Jones?
Let it go.
