Celtics’ nightmare scenario for 2024 NBA trade deadline-report

The way the Boston Celtics are playing in the 2023–24 NBA season makes them appear to be a class

above the others. The club, led by Jayson Tatum, has a league-best 35-10 record and is comfortably atop

the NBA standings. Boston ranks #2 in terms of both defense and attack. In the NBA, they have the

greatest net rating. They are at the top of almost every offensive and defensive classification. As the

Celtics have established themselves as the team to beat this season, opponents in the Eastern

Conference are frantically trying to strengthen their prospects of defeating Boston and winning the East

before the NBA trade deadline in 2024.

 

The Eastern Conference race is becoming more competitive, so the Celtics cannot anticipate an easy trip

to the NBA Finals. In the higher echelons of the conference, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia

76ers are likely only a step behind them. The Miami Heat, who won the Eastern Conference last season,

and the New York Knicks are also close by, and they have upgraded their rosters in preparation for the

postseason.

The Boston Celtics are now favored to win the NBA championship in 2024 together with the Denver

compared to the rest of the landscape, Boston’s top six are unmatched. They may have the strongest

well in a smaller role in the interim.

But when it comes time for the playoffs, the Celtics might appear somewhat weak after Horford. The

next player in the rotation is Payton Pritchard. He might also advance to the next level in his fourth

season and help the Celtics contend for the postseason. But there’s really not much else to mention after

Pritchard. Is Sam Hauser a reliable option for the Celtics to start him for ten minutes during the

playoffs? Can Luke Kornet be added to the rotation as the backup big man in the event that Porzingis is

injured?

The Celtics’ roster is top-heavy, which restricts their ability to make a big move. However, Brad Stevens

still has the tools necessary to keep this team getting better. Boston may trade two first-round picks and

has eight seconds available. Additionally, they have a trade exception of $6.2 million from Grant

Williams’ signing and trade this offseason. The Celtics have no justification now to remain silent at the

deadline. It would be a nightmare to do that, particularly if the competition improves much further.
