Glasgow Celtic receives significant new contract raise amid transfer speculation.Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has signed

a new five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him with the club until 2029.

The 26-year-old US international has been the focus of recent transfer speculation, with the Premier League in England showing interest,

while an unnamed club in Qatar was claimed on Friday to have inquired about the centre-back.

Carter-Vickers has been a vital performer for the Hoops since he initially joined them in 2021.

Initially on a season-long loan from Tottenham, the move became permanent the following year.

To date, he has made 101 appearances for Celtic, scoring five goals and winning five trophies,

including two league titles, two League Cups, and the Scottish Cup as part of last season’s treble.

Carter-Vickers told the Celtic website, “I am overjoyed to sign this new contract with Celtic.

” I’ve liked everything about the club since the beginning,

and I’m thrilled to have been a part of some of its most successful years.

You always play the game to win, and being a part of those great Celtic wins has been a huge honour for me.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers added:

“It is fantastic news for everyone that Cameron has extended his contract with the club.

He has been an absolute rock for us since joining the club,

and he has consistently performed at a high level week after week.

There has been a lot of chatter about other clubs’ interest in him,

but all he has done is focus on his game and determine where he wants to play,

and we are thrilled that he sees his future at Celtic.”

Rangers reached an agreement to sign Brazilian left-back

Rangers are allegedly close to signing left-back Jefte from Fluminese.

The 20-year-old Brazilian spent the first part of the season on loan at Cypriot First Division club APOEL,

where he appeared 18 times, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano,

Rangers have reached a deal with his parent club in Brazil and are waiting for APOEL to

approve the early termination of his loan in order to complete the move to Ibrox during the current window.

Jefte is expected to join Rangers on a contract that runs until June 2027.

The move might see Ridvan Yilmaz leave Ibrox before the transfer deadline,

as the Turkish left-back is highly linked with a return to his homeland.

Borna Barisic is also in the final six months of his contract,

but Rangers are said to have offered the Croat a fresh two-year agreement.
