Rangers twist as £2.5m update emerges on new attacker transfer – report

Rangers have not yet contacted Vitesse regarding Million Manhoef as transfer rumors surface.

Despite strong interest, Rangers have not contacted Vitesse Arnhem regarding Million Manhoef’s signing,

according to Football Scotland.Despite the player being linked to a move to Ibrox this month,

the publication said [24 January] that the Gers had not yet presented their alleged plan of a £2.5 million offer.

After emerging from the Vitesse youth, the 22-year-old winger has been a rising star for the team,

amassing 16 goals and 14 assists in 87 games since August 2020.

Much-needed reinforcements Philippe Clement is dying for a goal-hungry forward,

with several of his players injured, including Kemar Roofe, Danilo and Abdallah Sima.

The latter’s recent injury news has come as a huge blow for Rangers. The Brighton loanee has hit the

ground running since he arrived at Ibrox in the summer, scoring 15 goals in 33 appearances.

And even without the injury, it is understandable that the club would be looking ahead to the summer,

where Sima is likely to return to England, considering the Seagulls’ knack for uncovering hidden gems.

But Rangers may have just done that too, only if they can complete the signing of Manhoef from the Netherlands.

The youngster already has 10 caps for the Netherlands U21s and is 13 games shy of a century

of Vitesse appearances.

Much-needed reinforcements

He is Vitesse’s joint-top scorer this season, with only four goals.

However, that is more down to the club’s season rather than him.

The Dutch side are currently bottom of Eredivisie, with 12 points after 18 games.

It could be difficult to prise him away at this stage in a difficult season.

With Rangers’ main goal threats set for spells on the sidelines, and their second and fourth-highest scorers injured,

it would be too much to depend on James Tavernier to carry Rangers to victory,

having already netted 17 goals this season. In other Rangers news,

talks are reportedly at the final stages for a different player to depart Ibrox.
