Rangers should be confident of landing 22-year-old not happy at current club

After spending the summer on loan at FC Twente, the Netherlands under-21 international returned to Ajax with the goal of securing a

spot in the starting lineup at his parent club. But Salah-Eddine had a rather awful feeling about how the season would end as soon as

even one with Ajax’s relatively large coffers.

“You don’t see stuff like this coming. I could pretend I don’t mind, but that would be dishonest. Salah-Eddine responded to Sosa’s

unexpected arrival on deadline day by telling Voetbal International, “It’s not nice, but it’s part of it.”

“After talking with the trainer, the late Maurice Steijn, I’ve made the decision to fight for my opportunity at Ajax. I simply want to

make the most of my time here so that you can look back and say, “I did everything I could,” when it’s all over.

It’s clear now, almost five months after Sosa arrived at the Johan Cryuff Arena, that Salah-Eddine’s concerns were warranted.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Amsterdam, has played in more league games for Ajax’s reserves (10) this season than he has for the

senior team (six). Only seven minutes of Eredivisie action have been played by him since early November, and he has yet to receive

any opportunities despite his troubles, similar to those of many of the club’s summer acquisitions.

Rangers are reportedly giving Salah-Eddine a lifeline during the last week of the winter window, according to Fabrizio Romano. And

as the young player has made no secret of his desire for regular first-team action, impatience is probably mounting behind the scenes

as he must feel tempted to seize this opportunity.
