Conflicting reports emerge about Hearts eyeing free agent amid 'fear' over Rangers target Shankland

Phillipe Clement has had a successful start to his reign in Glasgow and intends to compete for the Scottish Premiership by the end of the 2023/24 season after reaching the Europa League’s knockout stages.

Rangers have been quiet during the 2024 winter transfer window,

but they could use the last days of the market to strengthen their team for the remainder of the season.

Shankland has been one of the Scottish Premiership’s best performances this season and would be a signing that would get the Rangers fans out of their seats at Ibrox.

Rangers’ interest in Shankland after a quiet winter.
Following their poor 2022/23 season, in which they failed to win a trophy,

Rangers sought to rebuild their roster in the hopes of competing for the Scottish Premiership title once more. In the summer transfer window of 2023,

former manager Michael Beale brought nine new players to Ibrox for somewhat more than £14 million.

The acquisitions have produced mixed results during the season, with Brighton & Hove Albion loanee Adballah Sima emerging as one of the club’s most consistent performances.

Meanwhile, centre-forward signings like Danilo and Cyriel Dessers have been inconsistent at best.

At the same time, Sam Lammers has already been permitted to go for Utrecht till the end of the 2023/24 season.

Beale’s signings were only one element in his final demise and firing at Ibrox, and Clement succeeded him in October 2023.

The Belgian head coach has had a great start to his Rangers career.

He has propelled the Glasgow giants back into title contention and won his first trophy with a Viaplay Cup victory over Aberdeen in December 2023.
