Upon consulting with his family and receiving guidance from medical professionals, Davis made the decision to end his playing career

after 23 years of involvement, which included 371 games throughout his two stints at Ibrox.

On January 25, Davis posted a touching message on Instagram, outlining his reasons for retiring and thanking all of the people he has

collaborated with over his 23 years as a professional athlete.

Two heart emojis were Gerrard’s response to the post, then Beale wrote his own note in which he said, “A wonderful footballer and an

even better man.” Kudos to Steven Davis for an amazing career.

After all that Davis has accomplished, both at Ibrox and elsewhere, he will be able to look back on his career with great pride, even

though his retirement is likely to seem bittersweet in the short term.

His place in football history has been reinforced by his 371 appearances with Rangers, where he won four Scottish League crowns,

three Scottish Cups, and three Scottish League Cups. He has also earned 140 caps for Northern Ireland, making him the most capped British player in history.

After a protracted healing period that included surgery, his cruciate ligament injury suffered in December 2022 marked his last game

for the Rangers and ultimately contributed to his retirement.

Between Beale and Clement’s tenures, Davis even had a taste of managing Rangers for a European match; he said in his message to the

fans that this was something he would always be grateful for and would remember forever.

The fans at Ibrox wish the midfielder all the best in retirement, and Ibrox News agrees that he will always be remembered as a legend.
