Following Rangers’ Scottish Premiership victory over Hibs, manager Philippe Clement was in a good mood.

The Belgian manager was speaking at a news conference following the game, following goals from Cyriel Dessers, Todd Cantwell, and

Ridvan Yilmaz that reduced the lead at the top of the Premiership to five points.

With the 3-0 victory, Rangers broke their bad luck following the winter break, and excitement is growing about the team’s potential to

contend for the crown this year.

As the Rangers’ engine revs up following the January halt, here are all of the words spoken by the former AS Monaco manager:

Philippe Clement post-match press conference – Hibs v Rangers

We knew that Hibs is a team that is really good on the ball, with good building and technical qualities, so the first step was to play a

really good game without the ball, to work really hard as a team, which is what the boys did. We had more than 60% ball possession.

“That it was a good performance. For sure after our first goal. Before I had some remarks about some things what we talked about at

half time. A really good second half, a lot of domination, good play on the ball, not giving up too many chances against a good team

difficult to play against Hibs because of their style of play, who typically have a lot of possession of the ball. That was the initial step,

then. The second stage was to play smart with the ball, make the right runs to open up space for ourselves, and finish well, so I’m also

incredibly satisfied with that. One of the three goals—which, in my opinion, should have been four—is disallowed even though it was

right and only a few centimeters off. Still, it’s a worthwhile objective. Excellent attack along with a few excellent goalkeeper saves.

Although a clean sheet is crucial, let’s be honest: Jack also made a few excellent saves, so it’s not that

create any chances. But after this evening everybody will say that they saw a good Rangers team and good football. I think because of

both the teams this was a good advertisement for Scottish football for everybody who watched the game; if you are a Hibs fan, if you

are a Rangers fan, or you are supporting another team or you are from an another country,

this is the kind of football I think people want to see.”
