How Jaylen Brown, a star for the Celtics, Reacted When He Saw Terry Rozier
The Heat made a move on Tuesday that some believe should scare Boston while the Celtics were in Miami.
In a trade with the Hornets that sent the aging Kyle Lowry and a potential first-round pick to Charlotte, the Heat
acquired former Celtics player Terry Rozier.
The 29-year-old sparkplug will now attempt to fit in mid-season with a club that has been in three of the previous
four Eastern Conference finals, and Celtics star Jaylen Brown thinks the switch will be easy for Rozier to make.
Prior to Boston’s game against the Heat on Thursday, Brown told reporters on Wednesday, “I think it makes sense,”
according to Brian Robb of MassLive. As Terry is already a Miami native, I believe it made perfect sense. I’m glad for
him because it seems to accord with what their culture stands for.
Brown is aware of what Rozier can offer the Heat. The two played for the Celtics for three seasons before Rozier was
traded in July 2019 in exchange for Kemba Walker by the Hornets.
Rozier, who is currently in his seventh NBA season, is enjoying his finest year to date. In addition to scoring a career-
high 23.2 points and dishing out 6.6 assists per game, he is also pulling down 3.9 rebounds. In addition, his career-
best shooting percentage of 45.9% is achieved from the field.
As Rozier moves from being a bottom-of-the-league player with the Hornets to a starting point with Jimmy Butler,
Tyler Herro, and Bam Adebayo, his output is probably going to decrease a little bit. However, that doesn’t mean his
influence will decrease.
“I firmly believe that they improve,” Brown remarked. Terry’s athleticism, playoff experience, and other attributes
make him a perfect fit, in my opinion. Strong, aggressive, physically fit, with that kind of mentality and playoff
experience—I believe he fits all of that.
After leaving Boston, Rozier hasn’t participated in the postseason. However, with the Heat, who are now 24-19 and
in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, he should get the chance to do so once more.
However, the Heat might rise in the second half of the season and become an even bigger danger in the East if Rozier
plays the role that everyone believes he will.
According to Robb, Derrick White addressed reporters, calling him “a guy that has done a lot in this league, can score
from all three levels, and defensively he competes.” He’s a really talented player, so that makes them a strong team, I
suppose.
Rozier hasn’t played in the postseason since leaving Boston. But he should have another opportunity to do so with
the Heat, who are now 24-19 and sixth in the Eastern Conference.
But if Rozier plays the part that everyone thinks he will, the Heat might improve in the second half of the season and
become an even greater threat in the East.
When Derrick White spoke to the media, Robb said he described him as “a guy that has done a lot in this league, can
score from all three levels, and defensively he competes.” They are a powerful team, I guess, because he is a
tremendously talented player.
