During the 3-0 victory over Hibs at Easter Road, Philippe Clement has acknowledged that he substituted midfielder Nicolas Raskin

and playmaker Todd Cantwell for Rangers as a precaution.

Tom Lawrence and Dujon Sterling, respectively, took Cantwell’s and Raskin’s places for the second half in the capital. With one game

remaining, the Ibrox team cut the deficit to five points over Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic thanks in large part to the

contributions of their replacements.

But Clement wasn’t too concerned when asked about the injury situation of both players post-match.

“After that, he made a really good goal, but I didn’t want to take a risk with those things,” Clement said, conceding that it was too soon

to make a determination. “It’s the same with Nico (Raskin). His foot was slipping and we thought it was because of the tape. We took

the tape out and he still had the same sensations, so you cannot play on one foot. That’s why I made the two changes at half-time and

the two players who came in had a direct impact on the game so that needs to be our strength over the next couple of months.”

When asked if adding more players is still a top objective in order to advance Rangers, Clement said, “We need the squad to be

competitive in three competitions.” While that is necessary, it does not guarantee that a new player will play.

“The goal is to demonstrate your superiority. I don’t give a damn if someone is brand-new, expensive, seventeen or twenty-seven, or

has the biggest or smallest deal on the squad. It is demonstrated by your training, teamwork, and desire to join the group.”
