The Atlanta Falcons eventually selected a new head coach on Thursday afternoon, and in spite of all the whispers and conjecture, it

was not the renowned Bill Belichick. This made for an entertaining afternoon. Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Los

Angeles Rams, was selected by Atlanta.

Eight NFL teams, or a fourth of the league, were officially searching for new head coaches as the offseason cycle got underway. Six of

them have filled their posts with just a few sleeps remaining before Sunday’s Conference Championship game.

The Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks are the two teams that are currently still searching.

We will formally learn the

identities of all the new head coaches Dallas will take on in 2024 after the former selects a head coach (see their opponent list here).

For now, we are aware that the Cowboys will travel to take on the Falcons of Morris and the Panthers of Canales.

However, the Commanders are currently in need of a new head coach,

and Dallas will visit and host one next season. Similar to Seattle

(which is a strange way of putting it), Washington is significant in terms of the Cowboys staff since defensive coordinator Dan Quinn

has asked to be interviewed again. On Thursday, Seattle had their second interview with him.

It makes sense that Quinn is being seriously considered by both the Commanders and the Seahawks as their potential head coach, as

evidenced by their want to speak with him again. Though Quinn obviously has a history with Seattle especially, there are still a ton of

possibilities available, like Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson (whose Detroit Lions are obviously still playing), Bobby Slowik, and others. He

might be able to get one of these positions, at the very least. Probably not till the next week.

In the event that occurs, the Cowboys will undoubtedly need to appoint someone internally to the position of defensive coordinator.

Since Mike McCarthy is entering the final year of his contract in 2024, the Cowboys staff as a whole is in a hazardous situation with

uncertainty surrounding their future.

In 2025, McCarthy might be gone and Dan Quinn is somewhere else. Quinn would certainly not coach the Cowboys if that occurred,

despite what many people previously believed. Bill Belichick will most likely not be coaching a club this season, but he still wants to

break Don Shula’s record for most wins, so you can bet your bottom dollar that Dallas will be involved with him a lot between now and when, if at all, he finds a new place to call home.
