Jack believes that Rangers’ match against St Mirren on Saturday, January 27, will come too soon for Mohamed Diomande to play in the Gers’ midfield.

The 22-year-old midfielder is likely to complete a £4.5 million move to Ibrox on Thursday (January 25), becoming the Light Blues’ second signing of the January transfer season after Fabio Silva joined on loan from Wolves.

While some supporters had hoped Diomande would be healthy and available for Saturday’s game, Jack believes the Ivorian is more likely to make his debut against Livingston due to some “red tape” surrounding the transfer.

Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel (25 January, 19:00), he said: “Maybe the weekend comes too early since there is still some red tape, as they say in the industry. He’s certainly here for the long term, so missing out on Saturday isn’t a big problem.

“Rangers should be able to get through the weekend, and with no midweek game next week, bringing him in over the next few days will give him a chance to train properly.

“It’s actually quite a good time for him to come in and hopefully, the manager can start to bed him into the side and we’ll maybe see him next weekend.”

Not a big deal

As Jack has said, Diomande’s absence on Saturday should not be a major issue for Clement and his team, as the Gers should have more than enough talent to win all three points against St Mirren regardless of his availability.

With no midweek games scheduled, the Ivorian will be free to spend a full week practicing with his team before making his Rangers debut against Livingston in front of a packed Ibrox crowd.

There’s always the possibility that Diomande will surprise everyone and make the squad for Saturday’s game, but that doesn’t appear to be the case right now.

Hopefully, the transaction will be completed without any last-minute hiccups and all red tape will be cut as soon as possible, allowing the 22-year-old to be seen in a Rangers shirt sooner rather than later.
