West Brom of the English Championship is interested in MIKEY JOHNSTON.
The Daily Mail reports that the promotion-chasing Midlands team has their sights set on the Republic of Ireland international winger.
The 24-year-old Johnston is a bit part of Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup, therefore it is unlikely that the Hoops will obstruct his transfer to the Hawthorns.
After spending a season on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes,
a top-tier Portuguese team,
the Glaswegian returned to Parkhead in the summer. However,
a back problem held him out of action until he came on as a substitute in the scoreless draw against Hibs at Easter Road in October.
Johnston’s two goals in the champions’ 3-0 victory over Dundee at Dens Park on Boxing Day was his first goals for the Hoops in four years.
Having made only eight appearances throughout his inconsistent tenure,
he may be deemed unnecessary given that Rodgers has other players to cover the wide positions,
including the £3 million arrival of German star Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna last week.
Alongside Liel Abada, Daizen Maeda,
Yang Hyun-jun, Luis Palma, James Forrest,
and Marco Tilio, the Hoops coach has competition for spots on the wings.
