Roma in negotiations to seal Borna Barisic transfer as Rangers news emerges
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Roma is now in open talks to sign Rangers defender Borna Barisic before the January transfer window closes.
The Croatian is reportedly being considered by the team,
who just parted ways with Jose Mourinho, according to an article in the print edition of the Italian newspaper [24 January, page 23].Despite conflicting reports on Wednesday,
it is also implied in their “All Movements” section that Hellas Verona and Ridvan Yilmaz are still in negotiations.
Right now at Ibrox, Philippe Clement must decide how to handle his left-back predicament.
Both of his first-team options are much sought after.
Right now, Yilmaz is receiving a lot more attention,
and bids are already being received as Verona and Galatasaray try to sign him away from Glasgow.
However, Barisic is also in a dire scenario because his contract expires at the end of the current campaign and negotiations don’t seem to be moving further at this time.
If those contract negotiations do not move forward swiftly,
a decision may need to be made prior to the deadline of February 1.
Would it be wiser to cash in on Barisic’s final opportunity to sell?
Clement has previously expressed his displeasure with the contract circumstances from previous years.
There will be many twists in this story, though,
as the Rangers are unable to sell both players and will undoubtedly require a replacement if one of them leaves.
However, it is reported that Philippe Clement still wants a more out-and-out striker added to his squad before the end of the transfer window to provide competition to Cyriel Dessers with both Danilo and Kemar Roofe injured.
Silva is more of a floating forward but former Rangers man Ferguson thinks he will start as the central striker for the first time at Easter Road in the lieu of fresh faces.
