Rangers stumbling block emerges in exit deal, player has agreed to quit Ibrox
Agreement reached with Ridvan Yilmaz over January exit as late Rangers negotiation update emerges
Galatasaray and Ridvan Yilmaz have come to an agreement,
although Süleyman Rodop claims that talks with Rangers on a January transfer have not progressed well.
On Wednesday, January 24, the journalist from Ajans 1905 revealed via X that the 22-year-old left-back has reached an agreement with the Turkish powerhouses to leave Ibrox this month,
but negotiations with Rangers have not advanced.Galatasaray, the Turkish powerhouse,
is reportedly engaged in intense talks with Philippe Clement’s team in order to finalize a deal that would see them sign Yilmaz on a first-year loan with a buyout option [Fanatik, 24 January].
Discussing the deal on X, Rodop wrote:
“Galatasaray has reached an agreement with Rıdvan Yılmaz.
However, there is no positive development yet in the negotiation with Rangers.”
It has been clear throughout this ever-changing transfer saga that Rangers are unwilling to drop too far below their asking price for Yilmaz and will only allow a deal to be completed if it is on their preferred terms.
The two natural left backs at Ibrox right now are Yilmaz and Borna Barisic,
and as the Croatian’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign,
Clement won’t want to lose both of them in the same six-month period.
However, should Galatasaray actually match the Gers’ demands,
they will likely be willing to allow the Turkish defender to leave this month,
but they are under little to no pressure to push for this move to be completed.
If Yilmaz has reached an agreement of personal terms,
that could well see a deal be completed sooner than initially expected, but at the moment,
it doesn’t appear as though either side is particularly willing to negotiate to get it over the line.
