Glasgow Rangers and Celtic both want to end the January transfer season on a high note in order to have the best chance of winning the Premiership in May.

The Gers have already strengthened their squad by signing Wolves youngster Fabio Silva

on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Portuguese star joined Wolves in 2020 for a club record amount of £35 million and

will now look to regain his confidence at Ibrox as

he competes with Abdallah Sima, Danilo, and Cyriel Dessers in the lineup.

Phillipe Clement is also looking to reinforce his midfield this month,

with the Gers coming closer to a £4.5 million deal for FC Nordsjaelland star Mohamed Diomande.

Chris Jack, a transfer specialist, wrote on social media that Mohamed Diomande is set to travel in

Scotland tomorrow to conclude his deal to Rangers.

As we reported this morning, a £4.5 million fee has been agreed,

and the 22-year-old will sign a long-term contract with Ibrox.

Former boss Johannes Hoff Thorup earlier labeled the 22-year-old as one of Denmark’s ‘top midfielders’.

The Ivorian midfielder hasn’t scored in 20 matches for this side,

but he did score nine goals throughout three seasons.

When asked about his lack of goals, Thorup praised the midfielder’s defensive efforts.

He commented in December: “Instead of talking on his scoring numbers,

why don’t we look at the statistics of  how many defensive tackles he makes?

Then it would be turned into a positive story.”

The destiny of Celtic youngster Rocco Vata has dominated this month’s headlines.

Sky Sports previously reported that Italian clubs Bologna and Como have conducted conversations

with the player about a possible transfer this month.

Vata, who scored his first senior goal against Buckie Thistle over the weekend,

is under contract with Celtic until the summer but is yet to negotiate on a new agreement.

The 18-year-old is seen as having a bright future in the game and hopes to break into

the Republic of Ireland side in the future following excellent performances for the country’s youth teams.

Vata played four league games last season,

but has  had limited opportunities to shine under Brendan Rodgers.

However, despite reports linking him with an exit,

his dad Rudi claims he is confident that his son will extend his stay at Celtic.

Vata senior told Scottish Sun reporters that Rocco is determined to stay in the UK.

“He’s been with Celtic since he was seven years old, 11 years of his life.

I don’t think he’s mature enough to travel to another nation or join another club.

He wants to play for Celtic and gain the respect of the fans there. He has not concluded his job here yet.

“Celtic have not made an offer to us, but we are all mature individuals,

and I feel we can create something spectacular. He is too close to the club; he has a love affair with Celtic.

I approached him about traveling to Italy, and he said he wanted to stay and prove he could do it here.

I have spoken to the club and show he can make it here.

I’ve spoken to the club and I believe we can reach an agreement, a positive outcome.

“Rocco has a contract with a management company but he’s in the house every day with me,

I give him guidance and I know his feelings.

Personally, I think fulfilling his mission here is the correct thing for him to do.”
