The Scotland defender, who is on a season-long loan from Arsenal,

was substituted after just 51 minutes of Wednesday night’s Copa Del Rey encounter,

which Sociedad won 2-1 against Celta Vigo.

After rupturing his hamstring at the beginning of October,

the former Celtic left-back has already lost two months of the La Liga season due to a history of injuries.

According to his manager Imano Alguacil,

the unfortunate 26-year-old has now had another “fibre break” in his hamstring,

which will probably keep him out “for between three and a quarter weeks”.

“We’re going to wait for the relevant tests,

but it’s clear with Kieran that it’s a rupture in the hamstring,

” the manager of Sociedad stated.

“It’s unfortunate since we also left back Aihen Munoz out,

and with the number of games we have left to play,

it’s critical to double up in positions.

However, I’ve never offered an explanation,

and I won’t start now.”

Prior to the forthcoming international matches against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland on March 22 and 26

respectively, Scotland head coach Steve Clarke will be closely monitoring Tierney’s level of fitness.

Tierney is an important member of the national team,

and Clarke will be hoping that he returns to full fitness in time for the two matches that will serve as the springboard for the Euro 2024 qualifiers in Germany and Austria.
